The guide explains how to design interfaces and user experiences for HMIs shaped by Level 3 Autonomy features.
The gradual introduction of automated driving functions intensifies requirements to the human-machine interfaces. The HMI is becoming a safety-critical vehicle component, which goal is to keep the driver’s level of attention as high as possible, avoid any distractions and at the same time provide relevant information on all aspects of the driving process. Written in collaboration with Dr.-Ing. Peter Rössger, the founder of beyond HMI/////, the guide explains how HMI design solutions can be adopted to address these challenges.
As a part of our study, we conducted a research on standards and regulations that define the requirements for HMI design. Also, his paper provides a comprehensive analysis of design principles & considerations for in-vehicle HMI and reviews automotive HMI design trends in the light of those principles. Furthermore, in this guide present our concept of an instrument cluster that addresses core features of Level 3 autonomous driving.
