Cubic³, a leading provider of connected software solutions for the automotive, transportation, and agriculture industries, identified an opportunity to transform how fleets manage fuel payments.
Traditional fuel card programmes often create operational challenges, including manual administration, limited visibility into spending, and increased exposure to fraud or unauthorised transactions. Cubic³ envisioned a digital-first solution that would enable fleets to manage vehicle-related spend more securely, efficiently, and transparently.
Having successfully partnered on previous automotive technology initiatives, Cubic³ engaged Bamboo Apps in 2022 to help bring this vision to life.

FleetWallet³ – a connected fleet payments platform
Bamboo Apps partnered with Cubic³ to develop FleetWallet³, a connected fleet payments platform designed to replace traditional fuel cards with a secure, digital-first experience.
Initially focused on fuel payments, FleetWallet³ enables drivers to authorise and complete purchases directly through a mobile application while giving fleet operators real-time visibility, control, and oversight. By linking transactions to authorised vehicles and drivers, the platform helps fleets reduce fraud, simplify administration, and improve compliance.
At participating fuel stations, drivers simply select the pump number and fuel type before refuelling. Once the transaction is complete, payment is processed digitally through the platform.
Every purchase is recorded in real time and made available through a centralised fleet management portal, providing fleet operators with instant visibility into spending across drivers and vehicles. Automated reporting, configurable controls, and alerting capabilities help fleet managers monitor activity, enforce policy, and quickly identify potential misuse.
By combining digital payments, vehicle-based controls, and real-time fleet insights, FleetWallet³ simplifies fleet spend management while delivering greater security, transparency, and operational efficiency.

Secure and seamless payments
FleetWallet³ streamlines the refuelling experience by enabling drivers to complete transactions directly from their mobile device. Eliminating the need for physical fuel cards reduces operational friction while helping fleets minimise the risks associated with lost, stolen, or damaged cards.
Vehicle and driver based controls
The platform links transactions to authorised vehicles and drivers, helping ensure company funds are used appropriately. Fleet administrators can easily onboard, manage, or remove drivers and vehicles through a central management portal.
Real-time monitoring and alerts
Fleet managers receive immediate notifications when activity falls outside expected patterns or configured business rules. This enables rapid investigation and intervention, helping reduce the risk of fraudulent or unauthorised spending.
Reporting and spend visibility
Comprehensive transaction data is captured automatically and presented through the administrative dashboard. Fleet operators can access reporting across vehicles, drivers, and locations, providing the insights needed to optimise spend, improve accountability, and simplify expense management.

From concept to
market-ready platform
Bamboo Apps assembled a cross-functional team of eight specialists, including backend, frontend, Android, Android Automotive, architecture, QA, UX/UI, and project delivery experts.
The engagement began with a four-month Proof of Concept phase focused on validating the product vision, refining requirements, and establishing the technical foundation. Working closely with Cubic³, the team helped define key workflows, user experiences, and technology choices.
Following the successful completion of the PoC, Cubic³ commissioned Bamboo Apps to develop the MVP across Android and iOS platforms. The MVP was delivered over six months using an Agile development approach, enabling continuous feedback, rapid iteration, and close alignment with evolving business requirements.
Throughout the project, Bamboo Apps acted as both a delivery partner and technical advisor, providing recommendations that enhanced usability, strengthened functionality, and improved the overall user experience.
Results
Product's release
FleetWallet³ was successfully delivered across Android, Android Automotive OS, iOS, and web platforms, providing Cubic³ with a scalable foundation for a next-generation connected fleet payments solution.
The platform is now being introduced to customers and industry partners, helping validate market demand and gather valuable user feedback. The solution is available through both the App Store and Google Play Store, with ongoing support and enhancements continuing as the product evolves.
